The Senate bill S.787, otherwise known as the Clean Water Restoration Act (CWRA), would replace language in the regulatory act currently using “navigable waters” with “waters of the United States.”

What this means is that “the government would essentially be able to regulate everything from standing water in floodplains to creeks that run behind business and residences,” according to an Environmental Leader report.

This represents a complete takeover of private land and waterways by the federal government, a total assault on private property rights and a complete federalization of America’s land and water.

Amongst the myriad of assaults on the Second Amendment rights of American citizens undertaken by the Obama administration during the course of its first year in office, the one that stands out as the most alarming is the attempt to ban people who appear on the terrorist watch list from buying guns.

But isn’t stopping terrorists from buying guns surely a sensible measure to take? The problem is that the terrorist watch list, sometimes called the no fly list, is not a list of likely terrorists, it is a sprawling database of of innocent people that contains the names of over one million Americans. This is a rise of 32% since 2007 alone.

In spite of a 20-month campaign of intimidation by one of the most powerful prosecutors in America, author Peter Lance has succeeded in getting the updated edition of Triple Cross, his book on the 9/11 terrorist attacks, released to the public.

Originally published in 2006, Triple Cross: How Bin Laden's Master Spy Penetrated the CIA, the Green Berets, and the FBI details the incredible story of Ali Mohamed, the Egyptian who managed to penetrate the deepest levels of the U.S. intelligence community and provide vital assistance to Al Qaeda terrorist operations for years prior to the 9/11 terror attacks — while on the U.S. government's payroll.

On June 13, Peter Lance filed a complaint with the Department of Justice Office of Professional Responsibility requesting an investigation of Fitzgerald's attempts "to use the authority of his office to intimidate me and my publisher."

In his complaint, Lance asked the OPR to investigate "the twenty (20) month campaign
by Patrick Fitzgerald, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, to kill the hardcover and paperback editions of my HarperCollins (HCP) investigative book Triple Cross."

Mr. Lance's complaint continues:

As you'll see from the thirty-two (32) pages of letters sent by Mr. Fitzgerald from October 2007 to June 2009, he has attempted to use the authority of his office to intimidate me and my publisher; threatening repeatedly to sue for defamation and other relief if we did not stop publication of the book, which was critical of Mr. Fitzgerald's performance in office.

On November 16, 2007, Fitzgerald sent HarperCollins a 16-page "demand" letter, using the fax machine of the U.S. Attorney office in Chicago. "I believe," Lance says in his complaint, "that Mr. Fitzgerald's intent in using Dept. of Justice resources to send a letter purporting to press his personal claim, was a clear attempt to intimidate me and chill my publisher."

Lance, a five-time Emmy award-winning investigative reporter, has produced in Triple Cross a carefully researched and meticulously documented bombshell that threatens to explode the careers of current and former high-level government officials who are culpable of negligence and/or malfeasance (and in some cases much worse) in relation to some of the most important terrorist attacks on the United States over the past two decades.

It represents an enormous multi-year investigative effort by Peter Lance to connect the dots, showing the important linkages tying together several of the most important terrorist attacks on America: the 1990 assassination of Rabbi Meier Kahane, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Ali Mohamed played a key role in all of these cases — and others besides.

Lance is one of the few investigative journalists from the mainstream media to delve into the abundant evidence (which The New American covered extensively over a period of years) showing the connections of Ali Mohamed and convicted 1993 World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Inventory Uncovers 9,200 More Pathogens: Laboratory Says Security Is Tighter, but Earlier Count Missed Dangerous Vials

An inventory of potentially deadly pathogens at Fort Detrick's infectious disease laboratory found more than 9,000 vials that had not been accounted for, Army officials said yesterday, raising concerns that officials wouldn't know whether dangerous toxins were missing.

After four months of searching about 335 freezers and refrigerators at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases in Frederick, investigators found 9,220 samples that hadn't been included in a database of about 66,000 items listed as of February, said Col. Mark Kortepeter, the institute's deputy commander.

The vials contained some dangerous pathogens, among them the Ebola virus, anthrax bacteria and botulinum toxin, and less lethal agents such as Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus and the bacterium that causes tularemia. Most of them, forgotten inside freezer drawers, hadn't been used in years or even decades. Officials said some serum samples from hemorrhagic fever patients dated to the Korean War.

Kortepeter likened the inventory to cleaning out the attic and said he knew of no plans for an investigation into how the vials had been left out of the database. "The vast majority of these samples were working stock that were accumulated over decades," he said, left there by scientists who had retired or left the institute.

"I can't say that nothing did [leave the lab], but I can say that we think it's extremely unlikely," Kortepeter said.

Still, the overstock and the previous inaccuracy of the database raised the possibility that someone could have taken a sample outside the lab with no way for officials to know something was missing.

"Nine thousand, two hundred undocumented samples is an extraordinarily serious breach," said Richard H. Ebright, a professor at Rutgers University who follows biosecurity. "A small number would be a concern; 9,200 . . . at an institution that has been the focus of intense scrutiny on this issue, that's deeply worrisome. Unacceptable."

The institute has been under pressure to tighten security in the wake of the 2001 anthrax attacks, which killed five people and sickened 17.

Senators who oversee the $700 billion Wall Street rescue package held stocks in many of the banks bailed out towards the end of last year, according to financial disclosure reports released Friday.

According to the reports detailing senators’ finances in 2008, nearly half of the members of the Senate Banking Committee had holdings in financial institutions that have taken funds from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The panel has jurisdiction over the bailout fund and other relief efforts directed by federal regulators to save the nation’s financial system.

For example, Sen. Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), a Banking panel member, has assets in several banks that have taken bailout funds. Along with Goldman Sachs, the senator has several assets in Bank of America funds, worth at least $115,00. Bank of America has received $45 billion in government funds.

Another Democrat invested in bailed-out institutions is Sen. Chuck Schumer (N.Y.). Schumer has assets valued between $15,001 and $50,000 in Morgan Stanley and $1,001 to $15,000 in Citibank, according to his financial disclosure report. Morgan Stanley received $10 billion in TARP money while Citigroup was given $25 billion from the program.

Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), another Banking Committee member, also invested in some of the banks that received federal money. In a separate trust that the senator does not oversee, Kohl had assets valued between $15,001 and $50,000 and another valued from $1,001 to $15,001 in JP MorganChase funds, which received $25 billion in bailout money.

Few Republicans on the committee have significant holdings in companies that have received federal bailout money.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) holds stock valued at between $1,001 and $15,000 in Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and JP MorganChase. He sold stock in Citigroup in March, after the stock had experienced significant losses from highs a year before, and in Wells Fargo in April, when it was below, but near, recent highs.

June 8, 1949: Looming Ahead, Orwell’s Big Brother

1949: Sixty years ago today, Nineteen Eighty-Four is published. It’s official: In the face of the monolithic state, the little guy has no chance at all.

George Orwell’s dystopian novel, one to stand alongside Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World as a towering work of futuristic pessimism, posits a grim society where the government is all powerful and all knowing and the individual spirit has been effectively extinguished. Big Brother, a seemingly benevolent but terribly vengeful ruler who may or may not exist, is the personification of the state. To keep the masses docile and pliant, books are banned, surveillance is everywhere and all information is closely guarded by the state. (Huxley envisioned a different future, one which perhaps more closely mirrors our present: In Brave New World, there is no reason to ban a book, since people are too busy pursuing their hedonistic distractions to bother picking one up.)

Obama Has 250,000 'Contractors' Deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and is Increasing the Use of Mercenaries.

Newly released Pentagon statistics show that in both Iraq and Afghanistan the number of armed contractors is rising.

A couple of years ago, Blackwater executive Joseph Schmitz seemed to see a silver lining for mercenary companies with the prospect of US forces being withdrawn or reduced in Iraq. “There is a scenario where we could as a government, the United States, could pull back the military footprint,” Schmitz said. “And there would then be more of a need for private contractors to go in.”

When it comes to armed contractors, it seems that Schmitz was right.

According to new statistics released by the Pentagon, with Barack Obama as commander in chief, there has been a 23% increase in the number of “Private Security Contractors” working for the Department of Defense in Iraq in the second quarter of 2009 and a 29% increase in Afghanistan, which “correlates to the build up of forces” in the country. These numbers relate explicitly to DoD security contractors. Companies like Blackwater and its successor Triple Canopy work on State Department contracts and it is unclear if these contractors are included in the over-all statistics. This means, the number of individual “security” contractors could be quite higher, as could the scope of their expansion.

Overall, contractors (armed and unarmed) now make up approximately 50% of the “total force in Centcom AOR [Area of Responsibility].” This means there are a whopping 242,657 contractors working on these two U.S. wars. These statistics come from two reports just released by Gary J. Motsek, the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Program Support): “Contractor Support of U.S. Operations in USCENTCOM AOR, IRAQ, and Afghanistan and “Operational Contract Support, ‘State of the Union.’”

“We expect similar dependence on contractors in future contingency operations,” according to the contractor “State of the Union.” It notes that the deployment size of both military personnel and DoD civilians are “fixed by law,” but points out that the number of contractors is “size unfixed,” meaning there is virtually no limit (other than funds) to the number of contractors that can be deployed in the war zone.

At present there are 132,610 in Iraq and 68,197 in Afghanistan. The report notes that while the deployment of security contractors in Iraq is increasing, there was an 11% decrease in overall contractors in Iraq from the first quarter of 2009 due to the “ongoing efforts to reduce the contractor footprint in Iraq.”

Moreover it's important to note that "contractors" don't have the oversight and operate with impunity both here "inside" the United States and abroad. Futhermore our troops are treaded like second class citizens fighting for support, whilest "contractors" get their pockets filled. For emphasis, this is part of the cancer that is destroying our country! As long as there's money to be made from war, there will always be war!

FRANCE is facing a new health scandal following allegations that the prestigious Pasteur Institute willfully ignored warnings that up to 600 children were being injected with cancerous hormones.

The disclosures that children may have been put at risk emerged during a new investigation into the link between the growth hormones and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), which caused a major scandal when acknowledged in the Nineties .
